A Halal certification body is an organization that certifies the compliance of services or standard products with specific reference Halal. To guarantee the homogeneity of behavior and the credibility of the certification, the certification bodies must operate according to the indications of specific standards, however, nowadays hundreds of Halal certification bodies are known of which, most of which do not own the basic requisites required for the issue of a valid and recognized Halal certification.
In order to verify the conduct of the certification bodies, there are control bodies that verify that the work of the aforementioned results in compliance with the reference Halal standards, accredits the certification body and supervises its work overtime.
The accreditation of the Halal certification bodies is a formal declaration, which attests that the specific certification body is
competent to certify Halal products or services, in particular for international exportation. Mutual recognition agreements exist between the various certification bodies and the various accreditation bodies, to ensure the recognition and validity of the certifications issued, generally in different countries, through various accreditations.
This is the fundamental reason why a certification body with a large number of accreditations provides guarantees in favor of the value and international character of the Halal Certificate issued by the same. In conclusion, the reliability of the Halal certification body directly reflects the value of the product and / or service and the legitimacy of the export of the latter throughout the world. However this value is not intrinsic but strictly established by the accreditations recognized to the certification body.
It is the semi-governmental accreditation body of Indonesia. The Halal certification system and the Halal guarantee system offered and produced by MUI are fully recognized and adopted by certifying bodies abroad. For Italy, since May 2017, WHA has obtained from MUI the exclusive recognition as the only accredited Italian Halal Certification Body.
It is the Islamic Development Department of Malaysia, which ascertains and accredits global certifying bodies, through protocols designed to guarantee a procedure in full compliance with the rules of the Koran. It is the Halal accreditation authority of the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC: Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait and, in addition, the Republic of Yemen) created to facilitate trade, support industry and the national economy, as well as to apply procedures and compliance standards in the Member States. WHA is in continuous collaboration with GAC, demonstrating the guarantee of internationality of the Halal certificate issued by WHA.
It is the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore, founded as a state body in 1968, it is the body responsible for implementing policies and operational plans related to the Halal theme as well as promoting religious, social, educational, economic and cultural activities in compliance of the principles and traditions of Islam. WHA received accreditation from MUIS, a further guarantee in favor of the international nature of the Halal Certificate issued by WHA.
It is the national Halal accreditation authority of the United Arab Emirates which has the responsibility to draft, issue and adopt regulations relating to products that relate to: health, safety and the environment in compliance with Islamic laws. Since 2014 ESMA has imposed, through a decree that came into force in 2016, the Halal certification (necessarily issued by a certification body accredited by ESMA) of all the products imported by the Arab Emirates. Reason for which the accreditation of WHA by ESMA represents an added value for exporting companies in the aforementioned country.

It is the leading Halal certification body in Turkey, founded in 2005 to cover the need of both consumers and producers to ensure food, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, etc., compliant with Islamic Shariah on the Turkish market. Since January 2018, WHA has been operating under a reciprocal recognition with GIMDES, which guarantees the certificates issued by WHA an additional added value for the benefit of Halal consumers and certified companies.
